The Funders and Proposition 1
The Greening In Place: Protecting Communities from Displacement guide was made possible by Proposition 1 funding from the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy. This grant is awarded for multi-benefit ecosystem restoration and protection projects that contribute to enhancing the three objectives of the California Water Action Plan: a more reliable water supply, restoration of important species and habitat, and a more resilient and sustainably managed water resources system.
The Audubon Center at Debs Park received funding to enhance habitat at three pocket parks along the LA River, and to additionally create this guide in partnership with Southeast Asian Community Alliance (SEACA LA), Public Counsel, and Team Friday. Without the Conservancy’s prioritization of access and multi-benefit projects, this work would not have been possible.
Through direct action, alliances, partnerships, and joint powers authorities, the Conservancy's mission is to strategically buy back, preserve, protect, restore, and enhance treasured pieces of Southern California to form an interlinking system of urban, rural and river parks, open space, trails, and wildlife habitats that are easily accessible to the general public.
